This album is filled with minimal arrangements that encapsulate Sade Adu's fragile singing, and yet there is a strength that shines through her voice that we haven't seen from her for a while. Soldier Of Love tells stories of love, hurt, and abandonment, but there is an anger and a defiance here that we haven't seen before. Sade's lyrics are, as ever, poetic, demand our attention, and are a lot darker than we're used to.

This was Sade's first album with original work in 10 years, and was much anticipated by press and public alike. Luckily for us, in the words of fellow Neo-Soul singer Maxwell: 'it's so monolithic it'll shake you in your shoes!' The album won a 2010 Grammy award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.
