„It was Günter Pauler from Stockfisch-Records who suggested that, as the concert in Hoeilaart (near Brussels) was to be filmed, I should choose the songs that charted my career of a life on the road. This meant going back to some of the older songs I had not played for some time, but in the hour or so before the concert I found time to run through the texts, the melodies and the chords of these songs that illustrated my journey.

Normally when making a live CD or a film one records a few concerts and then edits together the best parts from them all. We only had one night so there was a lot of pressure to get it right, and I think we did."

In the midst of Scotland’s West Highlands, hidden between the Atlantic and the green hills, there is a very special kind of concert hall. Art-loving people have transformed a former farmhouse into a meeting place for musicians, dancers, painters and poets. A Scottish secret? Well, not enough of a secret, for ingenious bluesman Christian Willisohn came to know of that place via a friend.

Without much planning Christian set up his dream team of staff and equipment. On the road and over the sea, five NAUTILUS 801 speakers, a whole range of CLASSÉ amps together with a SADIE DSD8 (1-bit) recording device made their way from STOCKFISCH-RECORDS to the Scottish Isles.

Here, the unique acoustic environment let impressive recordings find their way onto “tape”. It was just THE very thing for a 5.1 surround-sound recording on a DIRECT-CUT-SACD: On this SACD purists will find a stereo and a 5.1 layer in DSD quality.

The surprising thing on this Hybrid-SACD is the CD version. Christian Willisohn has invited six fellow musicians to the studio who add drums, bass, guitar, saxophone and cor anglais to his original recording from Scotland.

In CREAR we used our SADiE DSD8 system for the recording, processing and mastering of this DIRECT-CUT-SUPER-AUDIO-CD – a brand-new system from the tradition-steeped British manufacturer of mastering equipment that allows simultaneous recording of 8 channels in Direct Stream Digital. The analogue signal from the microphone is converted at the input to DSD and is also maintained in DSD format throughout the processing stages. The end result is then obtained in the SADiE DSD8 – the “cutting master” (AIT tape) – which is later transferred directly to an SACD glass master in the pressing plant.

This DIRECT-CUT-SUPER-AUDIO-CD will enable you to hear a 5.1 DSD surround mix as well as a DSD stereo mix on the SACD layer, and the 16-bit PCM stereo program (incl. additional mixes with studio musicians) on the hybrid layer which guarantees downward compatibility.

But an artist cannot get away from art easily. What does that mean? Paul O’Brien will tell you in "He Can Dance", a song about an artist who can dream and dance.

This fine, superb sounding CD – made even more admirable by contributions from Chris Jones and other musicians – is in fact an almost typical Stockfisch publication. As a work of art rich in content, Mike Silver’s new work cannot be compared to anyone else’s so far.

On his new album the sensitive singer and poet gives a close analysis of the state of human relationships and puts them in the shape of sophisticated melodies. These are not tunes to be sung along readily but which linger in the memory.

That man often looking so serious and stern from the cover of CD booklets has seen the world, has travelled around it and thoroughly enjoyed it. He has sung about it and in his songs has transformed it into his artistic home.

Leaving At Dawn: He riseth early who will travel far – or who has enjoyed in secrecy without wanting to commit himself to stay. The twelve tracks on this album are a mature singer’s retrospectice covering moments, places and stories of biographical, personal and historical nature. A troubadour’s lovesongs, intimate memories of family life, echoes of sweet rebellion in the year of 68 – Taylor has thoroughly enjoyed the lightness of being while it was still not unbearable. Later he transcended those memories of New York and Amsterdam and Brighton Beach and through his art made them valid and lasting for ever.

The Paperboys are a folk music band from Vancouver. They have been playing together since 1991 and some of their recordings were honored with folk music awards. Regularly featured at folk festivals in North America and Europe, the Paperboys have toured on both continents creating an ever growing community of followers. Sara K. was invited by the German radio station mdr to play a radio concert in Leipzig, the city in Saxonia, where J.S.Bach lived and worked. On November 8, 2007 she performed a convincing solo concert, which Günter Pauler had been asked to record for broadcast.
